An experience NOT TO BE missed while spending time in McLaren Vale. FULL STOP. Hosts Dhar & Georgia where welcoming, friendly and knowledgeable about their vino suggestions as well as other experiences in the region. Christian and I are both small business operators in Cairns with hospitality backgrounds and understand the value that stems from locals supporting locals. We took their local advice (despite our google and online suggestions) and were overwhelmed by the amazing experiences that followed. We absolutely loved the antipasto platters they served. They offered high quality products (prosciutto and bloody excellent pate) in large portions served in a comfortable outdoor setting surrounded by lavender plants, wine barrels and large shaded trees. There was a beautiful smoking area which we appreciated, and the service was on point with laughter, passion and a memorable home feel. Alpha Box and Dice was a highlight of our quick trip and we would strongly suggest a visit. The wines are interesting and off the mainstream winery path. The smiles are all the proof you need. I love taking guests to Alpha box & Dice. Such a funky, original venue with great wines that differ from many wineries. Creative blends, rare varietals and different winemaking practices ensure a great time for any tastes. Dog friendly, snacks to order and a lovely sit-down tasting menu all great attractions. I’d definitely book for busy days.

Arrived on a very quiet day so there was no real atmosphere at the cellar door and a little awkward with the staff on for the day. I think Alpha Box has made a name for themselves on their marketing because we really didn’t enjoy any of the wines and later discovered they offer a $10 tasting advertised online but charged us $20 and didn’t give us an option. Quirky venue without any pretence.

A fantastic journey through wine paired with knowledgeable staff and a great experience We came here because of their alcoholic free flight (to accomodate a friend), but left absolutely mesmerised by the place The concept that this place runs on - an A to Z wine list - alongside some of the most friendly and knowledgeable staff makes this place a standout amongst many great wineries in McLaren Vale The wine is delicious and the view/vibe compliments every aspect. I think this place is a must for a wine tour - we’ll definitely be back (for some more Sangiovese)
